    Description

Presented is a wonderful quality, heavy weight English Georgian sterling silver serving dish. The oval dish is beautifully crafted with hand chased repoussé pairs of peacocks or other birds on the ends and high relief clusters of grapes, melons and other fruits on the sides. The bottom of the dish has a wreath of repoussé flowers, scrolls and leaves around the bottom. The dish is very well made and has tremendous weight.
The dish is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard’s head crowned for London, the date letter ‘o’ for 1809, the duty mark of King George III’s head, and a maker’s mark of WB for William Bennett.
The condition is excellent. The dish has light surface wear commensurate with age and light use and some small dings here and there, but this is quite minor. There are no dents, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs.
The dish measures 9 inches by 12 1/2 inches.
The weight is 670 grams or 23.5 ounces.
